I just left SXSW V2V (South by Southwest Vision 2 Venture) Conference in Las Vegas. I know this title, “Vision to Venture” will ring a sweet bell for all of you dreamers, entrepreneurs, and maker types. One of the most interesting people I met and talk to was Jean Harrison, the Herd Manager at EasyKeeper, a start-up in Reno, Nevada. She took a twist in life that led her to a turn she’d not anticipated. What she shares in the 3 minute video below supports Richard J.Leider and Alan M. Webber’s thesis that twists and turns are to be expected. Her story is the first in my new video series based on the book, Life Reimagined.
Twists and Turns generally include both the challenging and the scary stuff that your mind has already made stories up about. You can find every reason why something new might not work. But you will also find that only when you act do you run into the possibility of any good stuff.
Let me know in your comments in what way opportunity and luck have come together for you and if you were ready when it happened.

Laid off after moving and buying a house…Worst nightmare ever.
Patricia A Patton says
Wow Shelley. Hope things are better now.
Cathy Chester says
This is an area I’m working very hard on, Patricia, because it seems most things are falling apart around me. So the stories I tell are that – just stories. It’s what we do by moving out of those stories by making our new reality that will lead us down the right path.
Patricia A Patton says
Cathy you are absolutely right. When I go off on a tangent I sometimes have to have others remind me of the same thing. Thanks for sharing.
Ruth Curran says
So wise to talk about the stories we make up and tell ourselves. Changing perspective, whether that is a reinvention or just a shift, is key to moving… forward… every day! Love your perspective Patricia!

I’ve been thinking (and writing) about the concept of pivoting. One of the things I realized (and am still trying to figure out) is that while pivoting is very intentional, the pivotal moments in my life weren’t recognized as such until later.
Patricia A Patton says
Pivoting is a big one Kim. I think you are right that going about pivoting is intention, general the opportunities present themselves once these intentions are set. You cannot always be clear how the steps will appear however. It’s just that you are ready.
Lois Alter Mark says
I love the whole idea of twists and turns, and how they help you reimagine your life. You’re so right about the stories we tell ourselves. I’m making a conscious effort to remember they’re just stories.
Carol Cassara says
If we’re fully present in our life we notice when those things coincide. It’s happened so many times for me. All the time. I shared this on Twitter and G+.
