I had a disagreement, well I almost got into one with a girlfriend that I love this morning about her resistance/reluctance/disinterest in getting involved with digital media. For me, it is clear that things are changing big time and there is an urgency to find one’s place.
She is so bright, very empathetic, and has natural skills that would translate very easily in the digital arena. She works well with people, knows how to build community; is super patient, perceptive, and she is a natural sales person. On top of that, she is multilevel marketing-minded. No matter the focus of the work she is engaged in, she always has her hand in several other pies that relate to meeting people’s needs. Yet her attitude toward social media is , “I am not interested.”
I realize that I am getting pushback on this topic not just from her but also from more than a few of my friends in the boomer age group. But why I keep asking? We all have to answer the question of WHAT’S NEXT, don’t we?
Today is already tomorrow. If you are unwilling to make adjustments, to try to understand how what you do works in the new framework, then this decision may work against you, not for you.
Message to Patricia. Back off, except I’d rather have your suggestions on how to be more convincing or should I back down?
Please leave me a message below with your suggestion. Yes, I am serious.
