I travelled a lot in 2014. Several times after I boarded a plane, I had that “moment” – the moment when I started to worry that the lights were not off; or I worried I had left the oven on. What I really want to always feel is a sense of security that I’ve left my home safe and sound. And in these time, there are apps to set up a connected home that will allow me this pleasure.
With the emergence of connected devices from the thermostat to the locking of my doors to turning off the lights, I finally had an opportunity to speak with Brett Worthington, V.P and General Manager of Wink.com to better understand exactly how the wink app turns your home into a connected home of the future.Think Jetsons! My interview with him is 7 minutes long, probably a little longer than you are used to watching a video. But if you are contemplating giving up the landline or have already done so along with the old third party security system, take a HARD listen.
I am personally pretty much sold on the idea of updating my cottage-on-the beach as a home of the future where I can check the status of all my appliances, garage door, heating system, lights remotely and then turn them on/off with the swipe of an app.
I will revisit this topic once I have actually installed my app. But tell me what you think.
Would you install an app to monitor your home of the future?
