Sometimes as things change, it’s difficult to see it actually taking place. I sensed this shift when I attended Cannabis Career Day at Stockton University. Professor Sedia, who invited me, is the Coordinator of the University’s Cannabis Studies minor. Her focus, along with her colleague Rob Mejia, is on preparing students for emerging jobs in the cannabis and hemp industries that will become available as a result of legalization. By that I mean ancillary jobs or businesses beyond work in dispensaries.
I had no idea how academia is positioning students for a future in which hemp and cannabis are among the choices for one’s career path. But I am encouraged by what I learned. People like Dr. Sedia are at the forefront of change in workforce development and are to be commended for shepherding this movement.
Listen as Dr. Sedia, a biologist with a particular interest in hemp, fantasy science novelist, fashion aficionado, exercise and health addict, cook, social justice warrior, and cat owner explains how Stockton University in Galloway, NJ is on the leading age.
