New Jersey is now legal, both medically and recreationally. Last week Proposition 1 passed with 67% of the state voting yes to legalize. But what does that mean? I reached out to Dasheeda Dawson, aka the Weedhead, who said not so fast because “Now we work.” Her Instagram series lays out much of what is wrong with the current state legislation but if regulation is not your strength, this may not have been so obvious. I voted “yes.” But I had no idea how the state proposed to implement my yes.
I needed Dasheeda to help me understand what was lacking in the current provisions. She knows because of her role as the Cannabis Program Supervisor for the city of Portland Oregon plus 15+ years of business development, strategic management, and brand marketing experience.
I specifically wanted to chat about legalization and the older, canna-curious consumer. I needed a primer on what constituted good legislation, and what’s was not so good about NJ’s legislation so that I could understand how to support boots on the ground like her.
BTW, she is a mom, CEO and author at @theweedheadco, co-host of @she_blaze, founder of @ceasecon and a board member of @dfcrorg

Hi Patricia. Your conversation with Dasheeda Dawson was spot-on informative and I enjoyed it. Restorative justice built into this nj law is what to watch for, we shall see. Meanwhile I’m grateful for my MM during the pandemic. Sativa-dominant strains are my preferred. Talk soon but who would believe we’re so busy in isolation? Best/Lenora

Absolutely Lenora. My best chance for good mental health is directly related to me staying busy. thanks so much for listening to this episode. It was an eye-opener for me too
