I am a bit wiped out. I like to think that the car can still go as fast as it used to. But self-care went the way of the fairies. This past weekend after an intense day of physical exercise using muscles that have been sitting fallow, I could not only feel the tightness in my hip flexors, but I wound up with a shift in my gait and swollen ankles. I push as a matter of course but never have I had swollen ankles.
I love my life. But I went too far over the past 7 days. I became certified to teach Pilates which required sitting/practicing on the mat all day in Atlantic City. Then I caught an early flight to Toronto for the Travel Bloggers Conference followed by a 2 day trip to Chatham-Kent (more on that later).
Today I have to see the chiropractor to get my body realigned. It’s like I “forgot” how old I am. So today is the day. I am launching a 30 day fully focused month on Patricia dedicated to refashioning my normal routine to include fitness, food, and work because my self-care practice needs tweaking.
I’m launching a 30 Days of Self Care campaign on my “BoomerWizdom” Facebook page. I am taking a page from Pam Brown and I’ll let you know daily what I do for myself beginning today (today is Day 1). I will just be consciously focused on ME. Maybe I will come upon something that will be helpful to you.
Please join me by commenting, helping me keep my spirits up and letting me know what you do to improve your self care to my Facebook posts. I know a number of people whose lives incorporate self care more thoroughly than mine. So I will share their input. Let’s see what we can come up with to help each other take better care of ourselves.
I am using the “Lose It” app to track my food and I am going for it. Help me.
