We don’t normally see celebrities with crooked teeth. I don’t know if this is because they had the good fortune of having worn Invisalign Teen braces as children.
Or if they are actually wearing Invisalign now and we just can’t see them. I make this connection between celebrities and regular people because one of my girlfriends began wearing Invisalign when she decided her one crooked tooth looked unprofessional and needed to be fixed and I could not tell.
Nevermind that she is a midlifer and not a teenager. Invisalign, according to its company brochures, has been effective at straightening teeth for more than 1 million teens and adults. And you can wear them to straighten crooked teeth at any age.
I recently had the opportunity to attend SITS GIRLS’ Invisalign Teen Straight Talk Bloggy Bootcamp sponsored by Invisalign for whom this post is written. The event included a crash course on SEO’s (search engine optimization) best practices for writing sponsored posts. It included in-depth case studies of the Invisalign product and real patients who had worn these braces or were in the process of wearing them. This was a rare opportunity to learn to write a post that Google’s powerful Search Engine can find and to talk knowledgeably about Invisalign.
Interestingly my girlfriend who is a Cosmetic Dermatologist was the first person to introduce me to Invisalign 5 years ago. As a professional, Invisalign was for her the clear alternative to a mouth of steel. She had a bottom tooth that was crooked that I’d frankly never noticed. Over time it became increasingly more crooked and began to affect the bone. She realized this crooked tooth was noticeable only to her. But in her mind, it was a distraction that prevented her from smiling confidently. Although her decision was for cosmetic reasons she was aware that a crooked tooth could develop into something more serious. And she is a Cosmetic Dermatologist after all.
How Do The Invisalign Braces Work
Unlike the steel braces of olden days, Invisalign is a clear molded brace that fits snugly to one’s teeth and shifts your teeth into a place strategically planned by your Orthodontist. Every couple of weeks, as your bite changes you get a new set of aligners until the teeth reach the desired placement. The before and after shots are powerful encouragers.
How Effective Are they
The process of simply regular changes in the molds seems too easy to be effective. But indeed an Invisalign Orthodontist Practitioner, two teens and one adult were present at this BootCamp with their before photos. I could see the benefits first hand. And I can also confirm they have worked for my midlife friend.
What Can You Eat
Even though it is recommended by professionals that you wear the braces 20- 22 hours per day for the best results, the literature reports that most people do not feel this is an inconvenience. What is more, you can eat popcorn with the new Invisalign braces which you could not eat with steel braces. Just remove the Invisalign braces, eat, brush and rinse in lukewarm water and then replace.
What are the Advantages
The advantages of Invisalign far outweigh those for traditional braces even though the cost for the two are comparable. What I had not given thought to are the health benefits associated with my midlife girlfriend’s decision. Beyond the aesthetics of straight teeth there is a risk of suffering from swollen gums, tooth decay, bad breath or more serious orthodontic or potential periodontal problems with crooked teeth. Invisalign addresses this.
