#GivingTuesday™ is a campaign created by the 92nd Street Y and the UN Foundation as a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.
I have personally decided to focus on Water Aid because who can live without water. And because we have access to clean water, we forget how many people in the world suffer from lack of clean water or spend hours in their day going for water. Take a look at their video.
I am also a supporter of the We are women online community . And they have identified a couple of organizations worthy of support. For example, I never knew that more mothers and families are affected by a postpartum mood and anxiety disorder than those who are diagnosed with breast cancer, diabetes or autism. One in seven moms will suffer, but only 15% will be treated. Support PostPartum Progress.
Another idea given by We are women online is to join Catapult Curator Melinda Gates in supporting the most vulnerable people affected by Hurricane Haiyan in the Philippines — mothers and newborns. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will match your donation to “Disaster Relief for Moms and Newborns.” Please help send newborn care kits to disaster areas and double your impact!
The important idea is simple to do something.
