New York is a city to be savored. Your visit can either be a trip to remember or a nightmare to forget. Choose from among this selection of hotels in New York, each offering easy access to shopping and the best of the city’s multifaceted culture and neighborhoods.
Ameritania at Times Square Hotel in New York
Settle quickly into the energy of the Ameritania at Times Square, which is one of the best located hotels in what is considered the Times Square area even though this hotel is technically on West 54th Street, eight blocks from 42nd Street. Visitors anxious to plug into the city’s energy will enjoy this mix of the Theater District in a neighborhood where real New Yorkers work and play. The hotel has 223 rooms and is within easy walking access to Central Park, Columbus Circle, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue shopping, the Empire State Building and Macy’s shopping.
The Peninsula
If comfort and convenience with excellent in-house dining factor highly on your wish-list, consider a room at The Peninsula Hotel. Prices start at $795 a night for a Superior Room and $4,300 a night for a Deluxe Suite. Staying here guarantees you’ll feel like a VIP at your home away from home. You’ll be right around the corner from the Museum of Modern Art and Carnegie Hall. Because of a full-service spa and health club, indoor pool, and a rooftop bar and terrace with views of the Manhattan skyline, you may never leave the hotel.
Paramount Times Square Hotel
Business travelers often stay at The Paramount Hotel, a true Times Square hotel because of its 46th Street location. It is often described as a contemporary luxury property with standard offerings of hypoallergenic bedding (upon request), Wi-Fi, high-speed satellite TV, and air conditioning. It’s an excellent choice for affordable luxury, with a fitness center and restaurant. For traveling pet lovers, perhaps best of all, The Paramount allows pet visitors. Prices begin at $270 per night for a double room.
Amsterdam Court Hotel in NY
The Amsterdam Court Hotel is not a luxury hotel but the West 50th near 7th Avenue location is excellent. The hotel is close to all the Time Square attractions, allowing for daily walks in Central Park. There is no activity more New York than a walk or horse ride in Central Park. In the evening, enter the vast complex of the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle for jazz at Dizzy’s club Coca Cola; or visit the Allen Room where Anderson Cooper records his programs. A choice of great high-end shopping as well as good eating on several floors is also available in the building.
Dream Downtown
The hip Dream Downtown is located on West 16th Street just off Eighth Avenue. Technically it is not a Midtown hotel. New Yorkers think of it as the West Village. But with a name such as the Dream Downtown, one can safely expect modern coolness. The hotel’s exterior of stainless steel covered by portholes evokes a time when this building served as the headquarters of the National Maritime Union. The Highline, a raised park stretching from the Meat Packing district to 34th Street, runs along this neighborhood to the west. Book a king-bed room with balcony for about $455 or a suite for about $725. A “Just the Basics” package will cost approximately $520 per night and includes parking, accommodations, and a Continental breakfast.
You cannot lose with any one of these choices.
