While in India, I was chatting with my son via WhatApps, you know just checking in with him for the day. As I shared how things were going with me traveling with 21 other people, I realized there was a morsel I’d shared with him that is worth sharing with you. That nugget is group travel is not for everyone.
However for certain experiences, in certain parts of the world like China, India, or Africa, group travel can be the best strategy for an introduction to a continent. In this case my trip to India, with a continent as vast, rich, and diverse as India, it was the right choice. I don’t’ think I would have found my through North India and South India over 15 days as thoroughly as I did without the help of a tour operator. It was an excellent introduction and now allows me to know that I will visit India again as an independent traveler with intention. The cities I visited were Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Thekkedy, Cochin, and Alleppey.
Many of you have asked that I share some of this trip with you. So over the next 10 days or so, I will share with subscribers. If you are interested in going on this trip with me, please subscribe to this blog if you are interested. I will get started after Thanksgiving.
Looking forward to sharing. So please subscribe. The subscription button is on the home page.

Hello Patricia, At this midlife stage of life, I actually enjoy group travel, especially if it is educational and the organizer has good ratings or track record. I think the key is finding the right fit and options. Thank you for sharing photos from your very adventurous India trip!

Greetings Patricia,
Interesting that you speak on the subject of group travel. It is exactly what I work with exclusively as the Travel Planner for the university I work for. What I’ve found with our advisory committee is when we discuss domestic destinations is that they can plan those independently any time. They look to me to offer trips such as the one you went on that are not so easy to plan. The vendors I use specialize in group, educational travel for university travel programs. Even on our trip to Dubai, we had a traveler that found us on the web while looking for a group situation. She stated that she just couldn’t see herself going all that way there alone so she purposely began her search for a group situation.
As you mentioned, it’s perfect for those traveling to far away lands. I also find that it’s perfect for single travelers. If you are a single traveler though, it’s always good to find a travel buddy as the single supplement fee can be substantial in some cases.
Great subject matter on travel.
Thanks for sharing!
Frances

Yes I know you are an expert planner and traveler. As someone who has been on both sides of this equation, I know that indeed single travelers find this an excellent alternative. It’s great to have someone to enjoy these experiences with that you know, but if you don’t have that and there is somewhere you want to go, then this really is the next best thing. Thanks for checking in Fran.
