The sun, white sand and proximity to the sea are important vacationing musts. But then so too are solitude, the sound of the voices in your head and a chance to watch the sun set on the horizon. Negril is the perfect place for all of this to happen and for you to design your own paradise. The West End, or cliff-side of this part of town is the former favored destination of 1960’s hippies who were seeking a place away from the crowds. Services are generally limited to the bar and grill that is part of the hotel establishment. But in exchange, you will have privacy, and cliffside landings from which to dive. Bring your snorkeling equipment and several bottles of sun tan lotion because a laid back atmosphere can be enjoyed at a two, three or four-star property. All of the following Negril Hotels are within a short taxi ride to Seven Mile Beach.
A Star Rating Does Not Tell You Everything about Comfort in Negril’s West End Hotels
Villa La Cage Negril is technically rated two stars, but do not allow the number of stars to fool you. In this case, it is sometimes possible to find prices as low as $27 per night. So, from first appearances, it’s bare bones. If you are looking for somewhere clean, quiet, private, however, this will more than suffice. Complimentary beach shuttle is available. Plus it’s close to many of the three-star properties.

At the Higher-end Laid Back Accommodations Have Been Transformed Into an Art Form
This one bedroom in the Tingalaya’s, although an AirBnb option, is one that visitors rave about. Although secluded, Tingalaya is very safe, serene, yet close enough to town. Depending upon the time of year, rates average $110 per night. The rates at Jackie’s on the Reef are $350 per night with complimentary breakfast. There are five rooms with five balconies, giving this a true insider’s discovery with an emphasis on wellness and good health.
It is true that services are limited in some of these options when you compare them to beachside properties. However, after a day away from the crowds, you are happy to take that quick taxi ride into town to mingle over dinner.

This was such an interesting read. I have never been to Negril and this post made me want to go and check out the place. I like the advice about star ratings not always telling the whole story about a property.

Hi Janeane. It is a place for lovers (smile). It has a reputation for being a place where Stella can get her groove in the past. I think you’d enjoy yourself. Thank you for reading and commenting.
