This is my girl, Jinji. She’s a Bouvier des Flandres and a real show stopper. She is the daughter I never had and she became my best friend when my nest became empty 7 going on 8 years ago. This past weekend I did an overnight and I could not take Jinji with me (she went to the kennel).
Long days out of the house and local trips cause me much stress. Because Jinji, although flexible, does not want to be left alone 8 – 10 hours.
This post may seem unrelated to issues of aging young and/or traveling light. However nothing could be farther from the truth. Owning a pet addresses many concerns that can arise for some Boomers, like loneliness and self-esteem. Yet pet ownership raises others issues.
My dog is great company. She has helped me remain fit and healthy. All I have to say is “walk” and she starts running in circles. No one is ever quite as happy as Jinji to take a walk with ME. And my heart loves her for this.
But it is a pain when you travel and cannot take your dog along with you on short trips. as you can see, Jinji is too large to hide. So I am wondering, do you travel wiith your pet. And if so do you search for hotels that accept pets?
