There is nothing more frightening than the time your first child gets sick. I still remember my son’s first high fever that I could not bring down and that was 30 or so years ago. The fear and helplessness I felt is hard to describe. I worried that my son and daughter-in-love, who live thousand miles away, would have to experience this expected event without family support. Then it happened. My grandson got a fever last Easter Sunday, just one month before his first birthday, that required a trip to the emergency room. You can imagine their exasperation. Fortunately they did not tell me about it until afterwards. But when the opportunity to examine the contents of a Little Remedies kit came along, I thought maybe this might turn out to be a New Parents’ Survival Kit.
My grandson had just started daycare. Now he is walking all over the place, picking things up, and examining them most inappropriately by putting them into his mouth. His parents just can’t catch everything. So it is interesting to see them ease up a bit and relax into parenting as time has gone on. The germs at daycare are not as bad as what one might find at a hospital; but with the little ones interacting with each other, one can expect regular runny noses , fevers and coughs. We are always looking for products with natural ingredients, —- that are truly natural and safe for their systems, with no alcohol, artificial flavors or coloring, or unnecessary additives to address these problems. It seems that we can be helped by Little Remedies in this regard.
Thanks to Little Remedies, I had an opportunity to examine these products. I received a dozen New Parents’ Survival Kits that I am donating to young mothers in my area. I am giving my twelve kits to the Senior Ministry at Living WordChristian Fellowship in Neptune, New Jersey. For many of these new mothers, these products will be an introduction to what’s available without alcohol, artificial flavors or coloring or unnecessary additives. Here is what is in the kit:
- Gripe water
- Gas drops
- Decongestant nose drops
- Saline drips
- Infant Acetaminophen Fever/Pain reliever
- Nasal aspirator
- Dosing chart
- Travel bag to hold all of these essentials
Like most grandparents, I love to share my experiences. We are as protective, perhaps even more so with our grandchildren than with our own children because we have some idea of what to expect. Thank you Little Remedies for donating these cases. I definitely was helped by Little Remedies in gaining exposure to the range of natural product available. I know now what to have on hand in my own home for those visits.
If you had Little Remedies to share, which organizations would you chose?
