Patricia A. Patton is redefining the way women think about what it means to live a well situated life, particularly among maturing black and African American women. Each woman defines for herself what contentment is and what she must do to feel alive. But the real joy comes in the crafting of an elegant, engaging and intentional life that honors what gives you goosebumps and excites you.
Educated as a linguist, Patricia brings a cosmopolitan perspective to the question of what is meaningful in life. As a black woman who came of age during a time of both societal and historical change, her experience is of someone who did not have a roadmap. Through travel she realized that life was not 95% work and 5% vacations. She witnessed the confluence of work-life balance as a blend in many cultures and incorporated this practice into her own lifestyle. Without realizing it, she acquired a high level of skill creating playbooks to fit individual goals and lifestyles. Best known for helping her clients dream themselves awake, Patricia helps create strategies to reshape a future expressing ever deeper dimensions of the self.
After close to two decades of working with the North American marketing team selling Belgium to sophisticated travelers, she began working for herself. Although frightened she’d be reduced to eating cat food in her golden years, this did not happen. In fact after several years as a content creator for various client campaigns, Patricia recognized a need to integrate the perspectives of older adults into the larger narrative, particularly women of color who often come from an oral tradition. These women bring the wisdom of the elders and mix it up with the energy of the young who are presently driving cultural shifts.
Patricia understands societal constraints both off and online, how marginalization can silence older adults and what it means to age in a diversified society. She edits a monthly newsletter, “Vicariously Yours;” curates the online community of black and African-American boomer bloggers she founded; and publishes quarterly white papers on Aging 2.0 Outside the White Spaces.
Patricia is on a mission to empower seasoned and exciting women by providing effective and easily accessible strategies that can be implemented immediately. She divides her time between speaking, training and coaching clients about how to create What’s Next in their lives.
