Where are The Best Beaches in the World

Does a beach symbolize anything special to you? For years I longed to live in a little cottage near a beach in no particular state or country. I would have settled for a beach cottage anywhere. To compensate for this absence in my life I always find my way to a beach whenever I travel no matter the season. And I keep my very own Master Beach list, sometimes contrary to that of Conde Nast Traveler, of the very best beaches in the world.

Here is the question: Are the top beaches in the world the same as the best beaches in the world?  Not necessarily, I would say. No one beach meets a universal set of preferences.  Beaches are singular places of beauty, a place of restoration and renewal where we all find some sort of solace.  If you ask a real traveler where the most beautiful beaches in the world are they will each furnish a different list of beaches. But rarely will they be lost for words.

Thanks for hosting the blog carnival, Patricia. You are so right that what’s considered the best beaches depends on the individual and can even change depending on a person’s mood! Right now, I’m in a Maui kind of mood. :)

What a beautiful image and if I could take off today for Maui, I would. Thanks for participating.

Oh so true that everyone has a different definition of the “best” beach and that can even change with your mood. Sometimes I like sand and others it’s rocks and tide pools.

    Thanks for hosting this roundup.

I think the beach has an added fascination as when you go to the beach its like going to the end of the earth – Its where our oxygenated world ends and the underwater world begins – A strip where two very different worlds collide :)

This is what one generally thinks is how a beach would be defined… this colliding of two different worlds. but just looking through the pics submitted, you see that definition is a bit elastic. Heading over to read entire post now. Thanks Linda for joining the blog hop.

I agree that “best beach” is definitely a personal choice. And our opinions are flavored by the beach experiences that we had as children and the family memories that we made there. Travel has certainly broadened my idea of “best beach.”

Well, well Suzanne, my photo was taken north of Long Beach Island (smile) along the Jersey Shore in Asbury Park. Can you imagine what the real Jersey folks have to say about your do not go north of Long Beach Island (smile). Each of these towns has its own flavor.

    Love your piece.

This picture of St. Mary Lake is beautiful and quite surprising. I don’t think beach for Montana. Although growing up in Washington state, Lake Washington was my beach. Thanks for sharing.
